History and context
Support 1010, handmade, appeared in Tomb 5. Its decoration combines graphite, haematite and goethite. Analyses identified beeswax; the proposal that it derives from honey spilled from a bowl remains a hypothesis.
Evidence and interpretation
Pigments and wax identified analytically. The original content cannot be reduced with certainty to honey.

A yellow that preserves a work sequence
Goethite loses its yellow above about 300 °C. Therefore, researchers interpret this decoration as a post-firing application. The pigment thus helps reconstruct the workshop’s work sequence, as well as identifying a colour.
From pigment to content traces
The analysis attributes the black bands to graphite and the red to haematite; decoration remnants also remained inside. Chromatography identified beeswax markers. The team proposes that the wax could have come from a bowl placed inside the support and suggests honey as a possible content. The chemical signal confirms wax, while the source vessel and what it contained remain interpretations of the funerary context.
