A workshop with several ways of writing

The marks on the Vix krater do not form a public dedication: they helped position decorative pieces during assembly. Stéphane Verger studied in 2020 their alphabets and stylistic differences to propose a workshop organisation. His reconstruction distinguishes modellers of Laconic and Corinthian traditions, besides those responsible for assembly who employed distinct graphic habits. The hypothesis places manufacture probably at Posidonia, in Campania. What matters is not converting every stroke into a secure nationality, but recognising that an apparently unitary object may have required specialists with different learnings and tasks.
