Reconstructing Pakal's jade face The restoration of Pakal's mask at the beginning of the 21st century used slides and reports from the 1952 discovery. The images allowed recognition of stucco remnants that may have served to adhere the tesserae. Laura Filloy Nadal and Sofía Martínez del Campo worked with specialists from various branches of anthropology to review the mounting. After a provisional presentation in ceramic in 2001, an acrylic resin support was made. The displayed mask is not a single-carved block: it is an ancient mosaic whose modern arrangement depends on documentation and conservation decisions.
