A possible ceremony, engraved on a plate

A bronze plate in the National Museum of Korea represents a person with a feather in the hair working the earth, another raising a hoe and a third introducing something into a vessel. The museum proposes a relationship between spring labours and autumn storage. Six upper perforations show wear, indicating that the object could have been hung by ties. The scene adds actions and a material support to the hypothesis of agricultural ritual. Its date, fifth–fourth centuries BCE, derives from typological comparisons, since it was not recovered in a documented excavation.
