A set of seven sound-producing objects
The National Museum of Korea preserves a set attributed to Deoksan with seven pieces: two eight-headed bells, two double-headed bells, two single-headed bells and one combined double piece. It places it among the ritual sets of the peninsula's southwest in the third and second centuries BCE. The variety shows that ceremonial sound did not depend on a single design. Size, number of bodies and the gesture of shaking offered different possibilities. The provenance is attributed, not an intact excavation, and the catalogue interprets its use for summoning or warding off spirits.
