The transport needed to raise the kurgan
A 2025 review of Pazyryk vehicles distinguishes two-wheeled carts with a triangular frame, similar to the letter A. The axles and wheels show intense wear; in some axles more than half the thickness had been lost. The authors link these carts to the transport of stone and other materials for building the kurgans. The triangular shape is supported by the areas where the wheels rubbed the longitudinal beams. The funeral also left used tools, besides sumptuary objects.
