Two circles to order water
The reservoir at La Pâture du Couvent was built shortly after the Gallic Wars with pink granite quarried at the foot of the mountain. Its outline is explained by two intersecting circles, laid out from an approximate unit of 182 centimetres. Waterproofing and drainage prove its practical function, while its position in the middle of the main avenue made it an urban reference. The fitting of the blocks indicates, according to Bibracte, craftsmen experienced in stone and probably trained in the Mediterranean sphere.
