Learning at Imbewu camp
The Imbewu camp is located in the dunes of the !Ae!Hai Kalahari Heritage Park and belongs to the ǂKhomani-Mier community. UNESCO describes there the practice of veldskool, a field school where elders teach young people about plants, animals, ecological relationships and spiritual knowledge. Its function allows understanding an architecture associated with transmission: temporarily inhabiting the terrain facilitates learning it through walks and encounters. The camp connects current infrastructure and memory, and shows a concrete way in which the heritage landscape can serve those who maintain their knowledge.
