History and context
Semi-subterranean dwellings gathered kitchen, tool repair and textile tasks near fields and stores. The everyday record is better preserved in pottery, seeds and postholes than in chronicles centred on kings.
Bronze and large stones were exceptional within lives dominated by wood, earth, fibres and perishable foods. An exhibition must restore this contrast to avoid turning every inhabitant into a warrior or officiant.
Evidence and interpretation
Documented fact: Songguk-ri and the archaeological galleries preserve dwellings, pottery, agricultural tools and moulds. Interpretation and caution: Elite grave goods overrepresent metal and do not describe the inventory of a common household.

Stone knives with different shapes
The agricultural knives from Songguk-ri preserved in the National Museum measure between about nine and thirteen centimetres and do not share an identical silhouette. One example recalls a short boat and another presents a triangular profile, considered more effective for harvesting crops. The usual name of crescent knives therefore groups technical variations. The comparison situates the agricultural change in concrete manual gestures: holding a small piece and repeating the cut during the harvest. Although bronze attracts attention for its prestige, stone continued to participate directly in the work that fed the communities.
