A city described from the camps

The Shiji offers a spatial approximation of Wanggeomseong through the siege: it places the land army to the northwest of the city and the forces arriving by sea in the southern sector. Before meeting, one of the contingents had difficulties crossing the river defence. These relationships between water, approaches and camps help to read the capital as a defended site, although they do not allow drawing its plan. The text reconstructs military movements and obstacles, not streets or buildings.
